How NW Groups work
NW Groups are the local groups of NWANA's national Nordic Walking network. NWANA keeps the registry of territories and groups, the standards and the education. The groups themselves are made of people.
Joining is free
Anyone can join their city group free on its page. Joining runs through the free NWANA membership: registration takes a minute, the member card waits in your RunSignup account, and the group page records your group, your ZIP code and how you want to take part. Every join is recorded in the NWANA Engine against its territory, so NWANA sees where interest in Nordic Walking is real.
Groups are community-led
A group becomes active when its own people step forward: a leader who organizes activities, instructors who teach, partners who host. NWANA supports them with the network, the Academy's instructor education and the association's programs and events. Local leadership and instruction are community roles, and every group page shows the ways to step into them.
Money, plainly
NWANA's national work is supported by donations (the Support NWANA button on every group page), its programs and its partners. Where an instructor or a host organization runs a paid program locally, that program runs as their own offering, with its own arrangement between them and their participants.
